Itinerary Details

Day 1: Vaishno Devi Temple

Upon arriving in Jammu, take a moment to soak in the city's energy. Next, embark on the 1-hour drive to Katra. In Katra, check into your pre-booked accommodation, refresh yourself and stock up on essentials and snacks for the trek. Hire a pony, palanquin, or walk to commence the 13 km uphill trek.

Upon reaching the Vaishno Devi shrine, offer prayers and participate in the sacred rituals like witnessing Devi's aarti. After that, go to Kaal Bhairav Baba Temple.  After the soul-stirring experience, retrace your steps back to Katra. Relax and reminisce about the day's spiritual odyssey at the hotel.

Day 2: Katra - Patnitop (80 Km) 3 Hours journey

It will start with an exciting road trip from Katra to Patnitop. The drive is about 80 km and takes around 3 hours.  Once you reach Patnitop, you'll be greeted by a breathtaking landscape. This hill station is amidst lush meadows and pine forests.

To explore Patnitop, you can either go for walks or hire ponies/horses and battery-operated vehicles are also available for convenient sightseeing.

Now for the fun part - Patnitop offers many adventure activities, from horse riding and zorbing to skiing (if it's a season), there's something for everyone. The adventure park has rappelling, rock climbing, and obstacle courses too.

If you prefer a more relaxed experience, take a stroll through the beautiful parks and gardens. Find a scenic spot and enjoy a lovely picnic amidst nature's bounty. After an exciting day, you will head back to Katra.

Day 3: Visit to Shiv Khori

This day will start with a trip to Shiv Khori Cave, an ancient cave shrine that is highly revered by devotees.

From Katra, the journey is around 2-3 hours. Upon reaching, you'll need to go on a short trek to the cave entrance. The trek is moderately difficult but incredibly scenic. As you enter the cave, you'll be awestruck by the stunning natural rock formations and the cave houses several shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva.

After your divine experience, you can explore the nearby areas. There are small eateries where you can relish local delicacies like pattu and baked rice. The visit to Shivkhori typically takes around 10-12 hours, including travel time so carry essentials like water and snacks.

After this spiritual journey, you'll return to Katra by evening and enjoy hot meals at the hotel.

Day 4: White-Water Rafting and Shopping

Day 4 will kick off with an exhilarating white-water rafting experience. The Chenab River offers Grade 2-3 rapids, perfect for beginners. You can book your rafting adventure through authorised operators in Katra. They'll provide all the necessary gear and safety instructions.

After that, it's time to indulge in shopping so head to Katra's vibrant Bhawan Bazaar. This lively market offers everything from souvenirs to religious artefacts.  You can also find Kashmiri handicrafts like hand-woven shawls, papier-mâché items, and dry fruits.
